Our projects

Healthy Her Asian Women’s Group

For many women from the Healthy Her Asian Women’s Group in Doncaster, this was a first-ever experience at Doncaster Races — a day that went far beyond the track.

The initiative created an inclusive platform to break down barriers, inspire confidence, and introduce participants to an industry where they may not have previously seen themselves represented.

Through shared experiences, meaningful conversations, and positive role models, the day opened up new opportunities and aspirations. It celebrated diversity, challenged stereotypes, and demonstrated the power of sport and culture to unite communities.

YorkMix Family Day – Inspiring Confidence and Connection Through Racing

At the YorkMix Family Day, families enjoyed a unique opportunity to step behind the scenes and get hands-on in the parade ring — experiencing the excitement and atmosphere of a real race day, with no betting required.

The day provided an inclusive and educational introduction to the world of horse racing, focusing on fun, confidence-building, and connection rather than competition.

Children and parents alike learned about the horses, met the people who work in the industry, and explored the values of teamwork, care, and respect that underpin the sport. The

experience helped demystify racing, opening it up as an accessible and welcoming space for all families — regardless of background or prior experience.

The event perfectly captured how sport, education, and culture can come together to inspire curiosity, build confidence, and create shared memories that strengthen community bonds.

Harrison College - Employability in the Horse racing industry

Twelve students from Harrison College, Doncaster took part in an inspiring 10-week employability programme designed to open pathways into the horse racing industry.

As part of the course, students visited local racecourses, gained first-hand insight into a range of careers across the sector, and took part in practical learning activities that built confidence, communication, and teamwork skills.During their visits, students met with ITV Racing experts, explored behind-the-scenes operations, and learned about the diverse roles involved in making race days happen — from media and marketing to equine care and event management.

The project not only broadened aspirations but also demonstrated how inclusive, hands-on learning can connect young people with exciting industries they may not have considered before. Through this partnership approach, students were able to see real career possibilities and develop key employability skills for their future pathways.

Yard Visits with Schools and Youth Groups – Opening Doors to the Horse Racing Industry

Through a series of interactive yard visits, schools and youth groups were given a rare opportunity to go behind the scenes and explore the world of horse racing. These visits offered young people first-hand insight into the daily routines, care, and dedication involved in preparing racehorses, while also highlighting the wide range of careers across the industry — from equine welfare and training to media, event management, and hospitality.

Delivered in a supportive and inclusive environment, the visits aimed to broaden aspirations, build confidence, and challenge perceptions of who can be part of the racing world. Participants engaged with industry professionals, developed employability and teamwork skills,

and gained a new appreciation of the sport’s values of respect, care, and commitment.

These experiences have proven to be powerful in inspiring young people, particularly those who may not have previously seen horse racing as accessible or relevant to them, showing that there is a place for everyone within the industry.
